Data Engineer GCP BigQuery, Python, Java, ETL

This pivotal role will combine hands- on technical expertise with leadership to ensure the creation of a robust, scalable, and cost- effective platform that enables advanced analytics and business intelligence across the group.
We are launching a new department dedicated to building a next- generation data analytics platform leveraging the vast data assets of our group companies.
The foundation will be a Data Warehouse (DWH) on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery — the technology choice has already been made, and we are now seeking an experienced Data Engineer to drive its successful design and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary technical authority, making key architecture and technology decisions.
Keep abreast of GCP BigQuery innovations and data engineering best practices, applying them to improve the platform.
Oversee project planning, progress tracking, risk mitigation, and quality assurance of technical deliverables.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
Implement data governance, quality, and security standards across the solution.
Ensure high performance, scalability, and cost optimization of the platform.
Lead the end- to- end technical design and implementation of the DWH on GCP BigQuery, including data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data integration.

Knowledge of ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, Talend).
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
Hands- on expertise in GCP BigQuery and related GCP services.
Strong problem- solving and analytical thinking abilities.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Strong proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, Java, or Scala
Experience with streaming frameworks (e.g., Dataflow, Datastream, Pub/Sub, Kafka).
