IQC Supervisor

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

This role supervises the IQC team, ensures proper inspection processes, prevents nonconforming materials from entering production, and works closely with supplier quality engineer and internal departments to resolve quality issues.
The IQC Supervisor is responsible for overseeing incoming quality control activities for electronic components, mechanical parts, cables, and PCBA- related materials to ensure compliance with company specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incoming Material Quality Control
- Ensure all materials comply with BOM specifications, drawings, datasheets, and customer requirements.
- Supervise incoming inspection of electronic components, PCB, mechanical parts, cable assemblies, and packaging materials.
- Verify inspection methods such as:
+ Component verification
+ Functional checks when required.
+ Dimension measurement
+ Visual inspection
- Ensure proper sampling plans (AQL) and inspection standards are applied.
Non- Conforming Material Control
- Identify and control incoming defective materials.
- Issue Non- Conformance Reports (NCR) when necessary.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Supplier Quality for disposition decisions:
+ Rework
+ Return to Supplier
+ Use- as- is approval
- Ensure nonconforming materials are properly segregated and controlled.
Supplier Quality Management Support
- Monitor supplier defect trends and report to management.
- Support supplier improvement activities when recurring issues occur.
Process Control & Compliance
- Ensure IQC processes comply with:
+ Customer quality requirements
+ ISO 9001/ISO 13485/AS9100
+ IPC standards
- Maintain proper documentation including:
+ Material acceptance records
+ Incoming inspection Reports
+ NCR records
- Support internal, external, and customer audits.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and manage IQC inspectors and technicians.
- Provide training on:
+ ESD control
+ Inspection methods
+ quality procedures
+ Component handling
- Monitor team performance and improve productivity.
First Article Inspection (FAI / FAIR)
- Ensure First Article Inspection (FAI) is planned, executed, and approved prior to part release.
- Review and approve First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) to verify compliance with:
+ Specifications
+ BOM
+ Customer drawings
+ Assembly drawings
+ Critical dimensions and characteristics
- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality to resolve any PART FAIR discrepancies.
- Ensure ballooned drawings and full traceability between drawing requirements and inspection results.
- Maintain FAIR documentation as part of Device History Record (DHR) or product quality records.
- Ensure FAIR approval is completed prior to pilot build exit or mass production release.

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, or related fields.

- Experience working directly with customers on quality issues, audits, NCMR, and corrective actions.
- 6–10 years of experience in EMS / PCBA / Electronics Manufacturing.
- Hands- on experience with factory- level QMS operation (ISO 9001 required; ISO 13485 / AS9100 is a plus).

- Solid working knowledge of 8D, RCA, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, PPAP, MSA.
- Strong problem- solving and root cause analysis capability.
- Ability to lead daily quality operations (IQC, IPQC, OQC, FA, RMA).
- Good communication skills in English for customer interaction and audits.
- Capable of driving continuous improvement at department or line level.
- Data- oriented mindset with focus on yield, FPY, and defect reduction.
