Shows willingness to assist other laboratory personnel when requested
Receives specimens when delivered to the Laboratory.
Records number of tissue blocks verifying proper identification and label.
Shows ability to handle unexpected situations and is able to exercise independent thought and action.
Operates instrumentation for tissue processing, section clearing, impregnation with paraffin, cutting tissue sections, and staining of slides.
Keeps current with changes in laboratory procedures
Operates and maintains all histology area lab equipment in proper state of functionality and safety.
Organizes work for effective utilization of time within the duty hours
Performs and monitors inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used, and places orders for replacements as required.
Assists the Pathologist in gross examination of surgical specimens and in frozen section procedures
Performs other duties as requested by supervisors such as data entry, report generation, outsourcing samples etc
Prepares solutions, stains, and reagents in accordance with standards written procedures.
Retrieves pathology data
Is capable of performing all routine and special procedures which may include but is not limited to: a. Papanicolaou stains b. Hematoxylin and eosin stains c. Giemsa stains d. Pathology report forms
Check the labelling and sort specimens on receival and prioritize them for processing.
Operates Pathtezt machine for liquid cytology and perform its staining process. Also well versed with Conventional PAP testing and its staining process
Accepts responsibility for an becomes available for overtime when workload require

Have experience in performing cervical liquid- based cytology, conventional pap smear.
Can perform routine manual staining: H&E, Papanicolaou
Registered Laboratory Technician (Registered Histology- Technician )
Have experience in performing routine histopathology procedure.
