Job Overview:
The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Planner Supervisor is responsible for leading a team in planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive maintenance (PM) activities for equipment, machinery, and facilities. This role ensures that maintenance tasks are carried out efficiently to maximize equipment uptime, minimize unplanned downtime, and extend the life of assets. The PM Planner Supervisor works closely with maintenance teams, contractors, and other departments to optimize maintenance schedules, resources, and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
Lead and supervise a team of preventive maintenance planners, ensuring efficient performance and development.
Conduct regular team meetings to review workloads, discuss challenges, and provide direction on priority tasks.
Provide guidance, training, and support to the PM planning team to ensure adherence to best practices.
Preventive Maintenance Scheduling:
Develop and oversee the scheduling of all preventive maintenance activities based on manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Ensure that the maintenance schedule aligns with production and operational schedules to avoid unnecessary downtime.
Create and optimize preventive maintenance schedules to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Resource Management:
Identify and manage external vendors or contractors for specialized maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
Work closely with procurement and stores to ensure availability of materials and spare parts.
Coordinate resources (personnel, tools, parts, and equipment) required for preventive maintenance tasks.
Preventive Maintenance Program Management:
Implement and improve the preventive maintenance program, ensuring all equipment is maintained regularly as per the schedule.
Identify trends in equipment performance and recommend improvements to the PM strategy.
Review and update preventive maintenance plans to address new equipment, changes in technology, or regulatory requirements.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment uptime, downtime, and maintenance costs.
Track and report on maintenance activities, including completed work orders, upcoming scheduled tasks, and backlog.
Prepare and present reports to management on the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program and areas for improvement.
Continuous Improvement:
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team by encouraging feedback, training, and the adoption of new technologies or methodologies.
Continuously assess and implement process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and reduce unplanned breakdowns.
Safety and Compliance:
Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and audits related to maintenance activities.
Conduct safety audits and ensure adherence to all safety protocols during maintenance tasks.
Ensure that all preventive maintenance activities comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred).
Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Maintenance Management, Lean, Six Sigma) are a plus.
Experience:
At least 2- 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role managing a team of maintenance planners or technicians.
Minimum 2- 4 years of experience in maintenance planning or preventive maintenance in a manufacturing, industrial, or facilities environment.
Working Conditions:
May require occasional overtime and on- call availability.
Occasional travel may be necessary for off- site facilities or vendor management.
Full- time, typically in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
