Process Modeler (Wastewater treatment & Waste treatment)

The Process Modeler supports the analysis, design, and optimization of anaerobic digestion and wastewater treatment systems through steady- state and dynamic process modeling. This role works closely with our Global team of application engineers, process engineers, designers, and operations teams to translate data and simulations into practical, data- driven decisions for plant performance, capacity planning, and energy recovery.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute mass, energy, and nutrient balances to evaluate treatment efficiency, biogas production, and energy recovery performance.
• Apply model results to support process troubleshooting, optimization initiatives, and expansion or retrofit studies.
• Analyze SCADA, laboratory, and field data to identify operational trends, calibrate model parameters, and diagnose performance limitations.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and visualizations that clearly communicate modeling assumptions, methodologies, and results.
• Develop, calibrate, validate, and maintain process models for anaerobic digestion and wastewater treatment facilities using commercial modeling platforms.
• Support internal R&D, pilot studies, and technology development through data analysis, kinetic parameter estimation, and model verification.
• Translate simulation outputs into clear operational and design recommendations for unit processes.
• Collaborate with process and design engineers to size unit operations and assess the impacts of design changes using modeling tools.
• Contribute to the development of digital twins, advanced process control concepts, and data- driven optimization efforts, with responsibility scaling based on experience.
• Present modeling results to internal teams and external stakeholders to support engineering decisions and project development.
• Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate the process under varying flow and loading conditions.
• Perform steady- state and dynamic simulations of biological and physical/chemical treatment processes, including activated sludge, anaerobic digestion, nutrient removal systems, membranes (MBR/RO), DAF, thermal processes, and gas treatment units.
