Senior R&D Specialist – Washing (Denim)

JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior R&D Specialist – Washing who possesses a deep passion for denim and a sharp eye for global trends.
You will lead the development of innovative collections and ensure every wash recipe is both trend- aligned and commercially viable.
Beyond technical expertise, the ideal candidate will act as a technical consultant for internal teams and a direct point of contact for US- based clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sample Development & Innovation
Collaborate closely with the Design and Sourcing departments to create seasonal wash collections that reflect current global market trends.
Develop and formulate wash recipes for production samples (PP, size sets, pilot runs…) and high- end collections.
Ensure all effects (color, abrasion, handfeel, laser, etc.) meet the sophisticated aesthetic requirements of international brands.
Technical Control & Standardization
Calculate precise chemical dosages, liquor ratios, and process parameters.
Establish and standardize Technical Operating Procedures (SOPs) for mass production.
Provide expert guidance to Merchandising and Production teams on the compatibility between specific fabric types and wash techniques to ensure optimal results.
Client Interaction & Collaboration
Optimize production costs through process innovation and smart chemical sourcing.
Support technical presentations and factory audits with international stakeholders.
Work directly with US- based customers to discuss technical requirements, provide solutions, and manage expectations.
Research & Trend Analysis
Research and implement sustainable technologies (Ozone, Laser, Eco- wash, etc.).
Stay ahead of global seasonal trends in washing, dyeing, and denim fabrications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience & Knowledge
Trend Savvy: Deep understanding of global seasonal wash/dyeing trends and the evolving Denim fabric market.
Minimum 5 years of experience in denim washing, with at least 2–3 years in R&D or Sample Development.
Fabric Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of Denim & Non- denim fabrics; ability to analyze how different fabric constructions react to various wash cycles.
Proven track record working with major export brands (US/EU).
Technical Skills
Proficiency in modern technologies: Laser, Ozone, and PP Spray.
Mastery of washing techniques: Enzyme, Stone, Bleach, Tinting, Overdye, Coating.
Firm grasp of international quality standards and physical testing (color fastness, shrinkage, etc.).
Language & Soft Skills
English Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written English skills, confident in communicating and negotiating directly with US clients.
High pressure tolerance and ability to meet strict sampling deadlines.
Presentation Skills: Strong ability to deliver technical presentations in English to showcase collections or explain R&D solutions.
Consultative Mindset: Strong problem- solving skills with the ability to advise internal departments on fabric and wash suitability.
