The Swedish Institute (SI) aims to offer more than access to world- class education – we strive to provide a comprehensive platform for building future leaders. As a part of the Sweden Alumni Academy, SI and Swedish Embassies are launching exclusive traineeship offers at Swedish companies in selected ODA/ODC countries. These traineeships offer the opportunity for current and future alumni to build long- term connections with Swedish organisations active in their home countries, all while strengthening their careers.
This offer is available to international master students (graduating in May 2026) and alumni who have previously studied a masters in Sweden.
The purpose of the traineeships is to provide current and future alumni with the opportunity to put their academic knowledge into practice, develop their professional skills and create valuable contact with future employers and local Swedish business networks.

The trainees will receive a monthly scholarship, and a travel grant is provided for those residing in Sweden.

Who can apply
You are welcome to apply if you meet all of the following criteria:
Your academic and professional profile matches the requirements listed for the traineeship position(s).
You can undertake a full- time traineeship for up to 6 months, taking place between August 2026 and January 2027, and finishing no later than 31 January 2027.
You have a citizenship in one of the eligible programme countries.
You are an international student who will be completing your master’s degree in Sweden by summer 2026 (i.e you must graduate on time).
You are a former international student who studied in Sweden and graduated in 2023 or later.
You can clearly describe how the traineeship connects to your academic background and future career ambitions.

You can only apply for one traineeship, and it must be offered in your country of citizenship.

Practical information
Scholarship Payments: Monthly scholarship payments will be provided by SI. The exact amount varies depending on the country and follows the local traineeship level. All monthly payments will be disbursed in one transfer at the end of August or the beginning of September. Payments will be made to your bank account, preferably a Swedish one.
Travel grant: You will also receive a one- time travel grant of 15,000 SEK. The travel grant is for those currently in Sweden, traveling back to their home country for the traineeship.
Every trainee will have a designated supervisor, who will serve as your local support and your main point of contact with the Swedish Embassy and SI.
Each traineeship is structured to ensure meaningful professional growth.You will work on tasks and projects aligned with your academic field and long- term ambitions, giving you the chance to apply your Swedish education in a hands- on, international setting.
Accommodation: You are responsible for arranging your own accommodation during the traineeship. We recommend starting your planning as early as possible. SI cannot provide housing support.
Timeline:
August: Start of traineeship period
May/June: Selection process and notification of the selected candidates
